1) After two weeks of interviews and many great candidates, we would like to welcome our new officers to the Environment First E-Board:

E1 Newsleaf!

Hey E1ers,
The meeting this week is cancelled but there are still a few announcements!

1) Thanks to everyone who applied for an officer position- we are going to finish up interviews this Friday so make sure you schedule a interview slot ASAP if you still haven't. Thanks!!

2) Coastal Cleanup day is this Saturday from 9:00 am noon! If you are interested in attending please reply to this email and let us know if you can drive or not. We will be meeting by the Subway in the UV around 8 more details to come for those who sign up! Please come it will be really fun!

3) This Wednesday is PSA's Election Connection at 7pm in THH 102. There will be free food and information from the different political parties- you should come!

Hello Environment First kids!! Thanks so much for coming out to our Welcome Picnic! It was SO great to meet all of you! Our first general meeting will be this Thursday, September 11 at 6PM in VKC 111.

If haven't already, please send us an email with a short paragraph if you are interested in applying for the following officer positions:

Public Relations Chair
Philanthropy Chair
Freshman Education Chair
Farmer's Market Chair
Earth Week Chair

We really encourage everyone to apply for officer positions! It's a great way to get involved on the sustainability campaign at USC and around Los Angeles. Please include in your email your availability for a casual interview on Friday, September 12 between 2PM-6PM.

Please see officer descriptions below:

The duties of the PR chair include:
Compiling and sending out the Newsleaf (our bi-weekly email-- something that's really fun to do),
To speak on behalf of E1 to news outlets and the USC community at large,
To encourage general involvement and participation of members within E1,
To organize the publicity of events, and tabling in general.

The duties of the Philanthropy chair include:
Finding volunteer events around Los Angeles
Organize carpools to volunteer events

The purpose of the Freshman Education Chair is:
to work with USC and the Orientation Office to include information during welcome week, and in welcome week packets about sustainability, becoming sustainable, and recycling in the dorms.
This chair is also responsible for any freshman- directed event planning.

The duties of the Farmer's Market Chair include:
Serve as a liason for the communication between Environment First and Trojan Hospitality
Organize volunteers for the Farmer's Market

The duties of the Earth Week Chairs (there will be two people for this job) include:
Organizing programming for Earth Week events
Publicity for Earth Week events

9/10 – Real Grrls — In association with WSA's Love Your Body Day
(6PM-9PM, Leavey Auditorium) Reel Grrls is a unique after school media
& technology training program that empowers girls to critique media
images and to gain media technology skills in a safe, open
environment, mentored by a network of multi-cultural women media
professionals.

9/12 – Women's Creative Collective: Les Figues -- Bring an aesthetic

Hello and welcome back! We will be having our WELCOME PICNIC this Thursday (September 4th) @ 6PM in McCarthy Quad (near PSX). There will be free food and T-shirts! Come and learn more about E1 and our plans for the year! We are so excited and can't wait to meet all of you!
