Week of October 20

Hello Fellow Politically Savvy Students!

It's another exciting week in the world of politics, but before we get into that, let's take a look at what the candidates said at the third and final debate. Are they still smudging the truth? You betcha!

Obama repeated a dubious claim that his health care plan will cut the average family's premiums by $2,500 a year. Experts have found that figure to be overly optimistic.

Meanwhile...

McCain said "Joe the plumber" faced "much higher taxes" under Obama's tax plan and would pay a fine under Obama's health care plan if he failed to provide coverage for his workers. But Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher would pay higher taxes only if the business he says he wants to buy puts his income over $200,000 a year, and his small business would be exempt from Obama's requirement to provide coverage for workers.

But regardless of who you believe, you need to make sure you VOTE! And to vote you have to REGISTER!

10/20 – Voter Registration Deadline!!!

Make sure your voter registration form is post-marked by 10/20!

Guerrilla Girls!
12:30PM - 2PM, Ground Zero Coffee House
The Guerrilla Girls are feminist masked avengers in the tradition of anonymous do-gooders like Robin Hood, Wonder Woman and Batman. We use facts, humor and outrageous visuals to expose sexism, racism and corruption in politics, art, film and pop culture. We undermine the idea of a mainstream narrative in visual culture by revealing the understory, the subtext, the forgotten, the overlooked, the understated and the downright unfair. Our work has been passed around the world by their tireless supporters.
See the Guerrilla Girls perform live!
Sponsored by the Roski School of Fine Arts, the Political Student Assembly, and the Women's Student Assembly

So You Nominated a Negro...

First there was The Boondocks, one of America's most widely-read syndicated comic strips that became best-selling books. Then, it became a hit animated television series. Behind it all is the mind of Aaron McGruder.
Now taking a step back from the day-to-day of running what became The Boondocks industry, he is coming to bring his insightful commentary and razor-sharp, hilarious satire to USC! He will be taking YOUR questions about politics, the media, and his work.
