Thank you to everyone that came out Thursday for our first meeting of the year! There were lots of great ideas generated, and we look forward to working with each of you to make our goals a reality.

Our main goals for this semester include:

1. Improving recycling program on campus

2. Introducing composting to dining facilities

3. Educating students on sustainability

4. Increasing community outreach through monthly philanthropy events

5. Encouraging increased energy efficiency for buildings on campus

APPLY FOR AN OFFICER POSITION

In order to achieve these goals, we are going to need your help! The best way to take

an active role in Environment First is to hold a position where you will be given responsibilities matched to your interests. We want to make sure you get out everything you put in to this organization. The current open positions include:

Farmer's Market Chair

Internal Communications (secretarial position, send our weekly newsletter)

External Communications (public relations, liasion with other organizations)

Earth Week Chair (plan and coordinate earth week events for this spring)

Philanthropy Chair (organize monthly volunteer project in greater LA area)

Special Events (whatever you want it to be! whether you want to plan a movie screening or guest lecture, we are open to your ideas)

Please send us a paragraph describing your interest in the position and why you would be a great fit by next Thursday, September 10th. Feel free to apply to multiple positions!
